Shirley Elaine Wieskamp, 71, Crescent City, died June 9, 2000, in Gasquet, Calif., as the result of an auto accident.
She was born March 19, 1929, in Hannah, N.D.
She was a 36-year resident of Del Norte County. She was an active community member and volunteer.
Mrs. Wieskamp was the secretary for the Crescent BPOE Elks Lodge for the past 21 years. She was also a member of the Crescent Emblem Club, Taking Off Pounds Sensibly Club, Del Norte Historical Society, California Women Bowling Association, Crescent City Womens Club, St. Josephs Women Society and St. Josephs Catholic Parish.
She was an active volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul and the Del Norte County museum.
Survivors are daughters Cherie Moffatt, Crescent City; Judy Peterson, Lewiston, Idaho; Karen Bertolini, Ft. Dick, Calif.; sons Jim Wieskamp, North Plains; Chris Wieskamp, Jr., Williams; Peggy Ahlgrim, North Bend; grandchildren Tony Peterson, Rusty Humphreys, Karla Bertolini, Sara Wieskamp, Emily Wieskamp, Sean Wieskamp, Justin Bertolini, Dale Wieskamp and Elizabeth Wieskamp; great-grandchildren Kuentin and Brittany; sister Norma Montgomery, Vallejo, Calif.
Preceding her in death was husband Chris Wieskamp, grandchildren Tami Peterson and Lacey Wieskamp, and brother Mark Balfour.
Services were held June 13 at Wiers Mortuary Chapel in Crescent City.
A Christian burial mass is scheduled for today (June 14) at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Crescent City. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
