Sharon Kaye (Burford) Moreno

Sharon Kaye (Burford) Moreno, 71, passed away on Jan.  2,  2013,  in Brookings.

She was born May 26, 1941, in Galesburg, Ill., to Joe and Virginia (Evans) Burford.

The family moved to California in 1957, and Sharon graduated from Morningside High School in 1959.

Shortly after, she married Al Moreno and they had a son and daughter. Sharon and Al divorced several years later, and she eventually moved to Northern California and then to the Kent, Wash., area. She worked for State Farm agencies in both places.

She retired early to help care for her mother and later moved to Pelican Perch Apartments and enjoyed the activities available there. She especially liked working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, watching TV and reading. Sitting by the ocean was one of her favorite things to do. She had many friends and she will be missed by them and her family.

Sharon is survived by her son Mark Moreno and his wife Linnea of  Woodenville, Wash.; daughter Elizabeth Moreno of East Palo Alto, Calif.; and sister Bonnie Snyder of Gold Beach.

At Sharon’s request, there will be no service following cremation.

Condolences  may be expressed online at www.redwoodmemorial.net.
