Ron Sutton, of Harbor, passed away unexpectedly, Feb. 9, 2013, in Albany, Ore.
He was born July 8, 1945, in Modesto, Calif., to Milton and Lodessa Sutton.
Ron grew up and attended school in Modesto, Vallejo and Santa Cruz, all in California.
Ron proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1967. He served in Vietnam from May, 1965 to May, 1966 as a combat engineer.
Ron married Sandra Duncan in June, 1966, in Reno, Nev.
Ron worked in the trucking business in Reno, where he and Sandra raised their family for 30 years.
Volunteering and helping his fellow veterans were extremely important to him.
Ron was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, AMVETS, and Vietnam Veterans of America. He volunteered at the VA Clinic in Brookings several days a week.
Ron always greeted friends with a big bear hug. He was a kind, generous and loving man. He had a way of making a stranger feel like a lifelong friend. He loved his family, fishing, traveling and coaching baseball.
Ron is survived by Sandra, his wife of 46 years, of Harbor; daughter Ronda Sutton Kindrick (Ed); son Cameron; his adored grandchildren Taylor Sutton, Amanda Sutton, Brandon Sutton, Rhyann Kindrick, Connor Kindrick, E.J. Kindrick, PFC Bryant Kindrick — currently serving in Afghanistan.
