Robert Stanley Boydston, 80, died on Sept. 13, 2002, at Curry General Hospital in Gold Beach.
He was born Aug. 18, 1922, in Portland to Ruel and Cecelia (Lipke) Boydston.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He also worked at various positions in the logging industry and drove a truck, acquiring the nickname of "Lassie."
He married Ermalee (Erma) Marchant on Aug. 24, 1946.
He and Mrs. Boydston moved to Gold Beach in 1951 from Granite Falls, Wash.
Survivors include his wife, Erma of Gold Beach; son Randy; granddaughter and husband, Nicole and Pedro Maciel; great-grandsons, Mauricio Boydston and Pedro Maciel Jr.; great-granddaughter, Maria; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Lois Boydston of Colorado and David and Susanne Boydston of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; stepmother, Margaret and stepsister, Marjorie Reed.
At his request, no public services are scheduled. A private cremation will be at Seahaven in Brookings with inurnment in Rogue River Cemetery in Gold Beach.
