Rita M. Lucus, 80, Brookings, died Sept. 22, 2001, of heart failure in Brookings.
She was born May 13, 1921, in Chicago to Margaret Wanda and Joseph Samuel McCormack. She attended St. Maurice Catholic School and Kelly High School in Chicago.
She married Russell Lucas on May 11, 1957, in Burbank, Calif., and moved to Brookings from Tujunga, Calif., in 1979.
Mrs. Lucas was a secretary at Armstrong Cork Co. in Chicago until moving to Southern California in 1949, where she worked as an accountant at National Distillers in Beverly Hills until retiring in 1979.
She is survived by sisters, Joan McCormack of Tujunga, Calif., and Rosemary Andresen of Mundelein, Ill.; niece, Janet Feltman of Wildwood, Ill.; great-nieces, Elsie and Ariel Feltman of Wildwood; niece Susan Andresen of Illinois; companions, Tuff and Smokey; and best friend, June MacIntyre of Brookings.
She is preceded in death by husband, Russell Lucus; father, Joseph McCormack; mother, Margaret McCormack; and baby daughter Rita Camillo.
