, died peacefully Oct. 10, 2013, with his family surrounding him, at his home in Salem.
He was born Aug. 18, 1915, one of seven siblings, in Clarksville, Tenn., to Leonard and Lily (Nale) Suiter.
Ray grew up in Tipton, Okla.
He began his long logging career in 1935.
Ray married Greta Dawn Condart May 14, 1939, in Cook, Wash.
Ray enjoyed sports — especially baseball, football and basketball. He was a strong Christian, a loving family man, caring husband, hard worker and a dear friend.
He is survived by Dawn Suiter, his wife of 74 years; children Norm and Mary Suiter, Nancy Ruebush, Peggy and Dale Turpin, Judy and Mick Ames, Eva and Randy Canoy, Russ and Rhonda Suiter; 15 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren, as well as nephews, nieces, cousins and numerous friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; six siblings; a son; a grandson; and a granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Crabtree Christian Church, 37650 Crabtree Drive, in Crabtree.
