Orville Newell Elliott was born in Seattle on July 24, 1917, and died Jan. 3, 2013, in Brookings.
He resided in the greater Seattle area most of his life. In 2010, he moved to Brookings to live with his only surviving daughter, Eunice, and her husband Andy Hakanson.
He was skilled working with wood and metal and used these skills in various positions throughout his life. Most of all he enjoyed helping others by problem solving. He loved visiting with people and would share his stories but would listen to others just as quickly. He was a man of integrity and impeccable character, honoring God by living what he believed.
He is survived by his daughter Eunice Ann and her husband Andy Hakanson; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by Mary (Betty) Elliott, his loving wife of 67 years; daughter Orlene Senff; sons Russ and Keith; great-granddaughter Ashley Anne; and his sister Vivian Maxine Elliott.
An open house to honor him will be from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 13, at the home of Eunice and Andy Hakanson 910 Barbra Lane, in Brookings. A memorial service will take place in the Puyallup, Wash., area, at a future date.
Donations may be made to Coastal Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 6042, Brookings, OR 97415 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
