Orvel Dawson Jr., 84, Brookings, died Jan. 7, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 26, 1916, in Hermiston to Orvel Dawson and Elsie (Carson) Dawson.
He grew up and was educated in Hermiston.
He married Ann Dawson Aug. 24, 1941, in Los Angeles.
Mr. Dawson was a self-employed logger retiring in 1978.
He and his wife lived in Brookings for the past 54 years.
Mr. Dawson enjoyed making latch hook rugs, stained glass and planting rhododendrons.
He was a member of the Brookings Elks Lodge.
Survivors are his wife of Brookings; sons Dennis Dawson, Bellevue, Wash.; Cary Dawson, Springfield; brothers Bob Dawson, Hereford, Ariz.; John Dawson, Bullhead City, Ariz.; David Dawson, Jacksonville; sister Sue Hoarath, Vancouver, Wash.
Also surviving are four grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. at the Brookings Elks Lodge.
