Melvin L. Fox, 61, Brookings, died Oct. 17, 2001, at his home in Brookings of brain cancer.
He was born Dec. 14, 1939, in Nyssa to Vera A. Fox and Alfred M. Fox.
Mr. Fox served in the U.S. Navy Submarine Service.
He was a 41-year member of Operating Engineers Local 701 in Portland. He ran heavy equipment building the Interstate Highway System and Haz/Mat cleanup.
Mr. Fox and his family moved to Brookings from Sutherlin in 1974. He commercially fished out of Brookings for several years. He was a member of the Pelican Bay Amateur Radio Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Beth Fox of Brookings; mother, Vera A. Fox of Brookings; children, DeWayne Fox of Marathon, Fla.; Diana Reneman and husband Lonny Reneman of Brookings; Karen Vaughan of Grass Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Tabbatha Reneman of Brookings; Zachary Fox of Grass Valley, Calif.; Shelbey Reneman of Brookings; and Bryce Reneman of Brookings.
Preceding him in death was his father, Alfred Fox, in April 2001.
