Mary Jane Brimm, 92, of Brookings, passed away July 6, 2011, in Crescent City. Mary Jane was born July 20, 1918, in Omak, Wash. to Ernest and Emma Jolly. She was raised in Hoquiam and, at the age of 19, married Roy Brimm. They moved to Morton, Wash., and later to Brookings, where they raised three children. While in Brookings, Mary Jane was very active in the community, including involvement with Daughters of the Nile, Rainbow Girls, a charter member of the Soroptimists, a member of the Brookings Planning Commission and service on the Brookings City Council. She and Roy were also Pioneer Citizens. They enjoyed the Azalea Festival parades when the float entries for Brimm Brothers Mill were made of real lilies and azaleas. Mary Jane enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing and clamming. Survivors include her son Byron Edward Brimm and daughter Melody Jackewicz. Also surviving are five grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 493, Gold Beach, OR 97444. Mary Jane will be laid to rest beside her husband, Roy, at a graveside service, at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 30, at W. J. Ward Memorial Cemetery, 1035 Seventh St., in Brookings. A family and friend get-together will follow at 6931 Oakwood Court, off Hampton Lane and Parkview Drive. Condolences may be expressed online at www.redwoodmemorial.net.
