July 6, 1925-June 13, 2014
Mary Ellen passed away peacefully on June 13, 2014. She was 88 years old.
Mary Ellen was born July 6. 1925, to Sara and John Wolfe in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska.
After moving to Oregon, Mary Ellen attended high school in Hillsboro, then went on to work in the Oregon shipyards with her dad during World War II, welding ships.
After moving to Brookings, Mary Ellen worked at Agnew plywood mill polling veneer and raising three children on her own. In addition Mary Ellen worked at several restaurants, and was loved by everyone who knew her.
Mary Ellen met and married Pat Sanders, the love of her life. They went on to have many adventures camping, fishing, hiking and just plain having fun.
Mary Ellen loved Chicago Cubs baseball. Keeping track of every game, “Go Cubs” she would say, hoping for another win, and never missing a game, no matter what. She also liked football, golf, tennis, etc.
Mary Ellen is survived by daughters Mary Pat Sanders, Fran Keith and Linda Eckes, all of Brookings; sons Kolin Sanders of Brookings and Steve Sanders of Montana; sister Donna Mae Lipska of California; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Pat Sanders.
At her request, no public services will be held. There will be a private ceremony at a later date.
We love you and will miss you dearly. Now you and Dad can dance on the moonbeams together.
