Former Brookings resident Marlene Joy “Nanny” Tyler, of Crescent City, went to be with her Lord on Aug. 4, 2011, her family by her side. Nanny died of cancer, which she fought four years with courage and dignity. Nanny was born June 6, 1939, in Kellogg, Idaho. Most of her life was lived in Oregon; the past three years were spent in Crescent City. She was a homemaker who loved to garden and to cook for her family and friends. A devout Christian, Nanny read and conscientiously studied her Bible. She was loved and will be missed by many. Survivors include her daughters Kathy Tyler of Apple Valley, Calif., Tanya and her husband John Brown of Modesto, Calif.; sons Michael Tyler and his wife Carolyn of Sutherlin, Calif., Bobby Kellum of Pahrump, Nev., John Tyler and his wife Brenda of Medford; special grandson Johnny Kellum – who Nanny raised – and his wife Nicki of Brookings; brother Ron “Buck” Thomas and his wife Michelle of Bridge. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. No service is planned. Her ashes will be scattered at a later date. Submitted by the family.
