Mark Leland Gilbert, 47, Brookings, died Nov. 24, 2000, at his home of cancer. His family was by his side.

He was born Nov. 6, 1953, in Salem to Gilbert Leland and June Rose (King) Gilbert.

He was raised and educated in Coos Bay and the Rogue Valley, graduating from Eagle Point High School.

Mr. Gilbert worked in the fisheries and played music.

He married Glenda Smith on Aug. 28, 1993, in Coos Bay. They made their home in Brookings where he was a tanker truck driver for the Colvin Transport Company.

He was a member of the Brookings Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing music and working with guns. He especially loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda; sons Andrew and Luke all of Brookings; brothers Phil and Jeff Gilbert, both of Trail; Chris Gilbert, Eagle Point; sisters Melanie Chappell of Trail; Jodie Lilya, Shady Cove.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, Nov. 30 at 3:30 p.m. at the Brookings Presbyterian Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlins Brookings Mortuary and Chapel.
