June 4, 1932-June 27, 2014
On June 27, 2014, surrounded by her family, Marie Morris, 82, of Brookings, went home with the Lord she loved.
Marie was born June 4, 1932, in Lakeview, to Harry and Margret Crowl.
She married Gary S. Morris Jr. June 14, 1951.
In 1955, after the birth of their two oldest sons, the couple moved to Brookings, where four more sons were born.
Many knew Marie as a dispatcher at Curry County Communication (Becco), some knew her for early years with Curry County Ambulance Service, but many knew her as the Cake Lady. She loved spending time with family and friends, and she enjoyed many years of camping, crafting and child evangelism.
One of her greatest satisfactions was helping others, and in the 1980s, she received several awards for her service.
She was preceded in death by son Butchy; husband Gary; and sister Myrle.
Marie is survived by sons and wives John and Gwen, Steve and Malinda, Dave and Sheri, Robert and Tammy, and Ronald and Brandi; sister Alma and husband Bud; brother Charlie and wife Mary; grandchildren Trish (Ronn) Mills, John (Mandie) Morris, Lenny (Leah) Hedenskog, Teresa (Jeremy) Gilliam, Kristin (Jason) Villavicencio, Nicolas (Heidi) Morris, Jodi Morris, Abbigail Morris, Daniel Morris, Jennifer Morris, Cody Morris, Spencer (Avery) Winn, Damien Morris, Grace Morris, and Luke Morris; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the First Baptist Community Church, 607 Pacific Ave., where she had been a member for almost 60 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to honor her memory with donations made to Child Evangelism of Curry County, P.O. Box 6175, Brookings, OR 97415 or First Baptist Youth Ministries, P.O. Box 4159, Brookings OR 97415.
