Margaret Ann Keating Speece

Margaret Speece

Margaret Ann Keating Speece

June 18, 1957 - May 5, 2014

A smile we won’t forget; a “baby” sister — youngest of seven children, a wife, a mom, a cousin, a niece, a grandmother and a friend. An inspiration; a model of courage and strength. Margaret, you will be missed and we will carry your beautiful smile in our hearts and memories always.

Margaret married the love of her life, Ron Speece, on Nov. 18, 1989.

Family came first with her. She “educated” them on how to be an avid Oregon Duck football fan. Fishing, hunting, camping, and flower gardening were more of Margaret’s passions.

Margaret had many creative talents such as interior design, faux painting, fine art painting and jewelry design. The community of Gold Beach will remember her artistic contributions to the Curry County Fair, Curry County Pageant, Curry County Health Foundation, Gold Beach Soroptimist and Jerry’s Jet Boats Museum mural.

Margaret is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Ron Speece; her children Cindy (daughter) and Ian Ashby, Dennis Harwell, Roger Harwell, Jennifer (daughter) and Billy Piper, Shelly (daughter) and Jason Allen, and J.R. Speece; her siblings Sharon (sister) and Tom Miller, Leslie (sister) Keating and Paul Smith, Sue (sister) and Richard Arkless, Bob (brother) and Marsha Keating, Paul (brother) and Lori Keating, Mary (sister) and Clint Olafson; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her mother Agnes Mary Waibel Keating and her father Vincent Bernard Keating.

Contributions in Margaret’s name can be made to: Curry Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1274, Gold Beach, OR 97444; Coastal Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 493, Gold Beach, OR 97444.

Submitted by the family.
