Lois Ellen Greene, 82, Brookings, died Feb. 1, 2001, at her home.
She was born July 14, 1918, in St Louis, Mo., to Keiser C. Hawkins and Elsie V. Weller.
She lived in St. Louis until 1974. She served her country during World War II working in a small arms plant. She also worked in various doctors offices as a secretary.
She married Edward Kozel in 1966 and they traveled around the country for several years before settling in Brookings in 1986.
Her husband died in 1991. She married Gordon E. Greene Sept. 12, 1993.
Survivors are her husband, Gordon E. Greene of Brookings; daughter Virginia Yonker Duty and son-in-law Jesse Duty of Brookings; grandchildren Paul Belle of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Michael Belle of Peoria, Ariz.; Amy Cartney of Yale, S.D.
Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for March 3 at 3 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 102 Park Ave.
Her ashes will be scattered at sea as she requested.
Arrangements are under the direction of Littys Funeral Directors, Brookings Chapel.
