Lindsey Charles Barbour, 50, Brookings, died Dec. 2, 2011, at home. 

He was born June 25, 1961, in Alameda, Calif., and came to Brookings in early 1989.

He joined the Brookings Volunteer Fire Department, and worked at Barron’s Home Furnishings and the Great American Smokehouse. 

He loved to fish in the river with his dad and brother. His family called him “the mountain man” and plans to return his ashes to the mountains that he loved.

Lindsey will be missed by two sons and a daughter, Alex, Alan and Alisha, all of California; his mother Una Barbour and brother Scott Barbour, both of Brookings. He will also be missed by many, many friends, aunts and uncles in California, Ireland and Scotland.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim.

Private services will be held.
