Lillian May Yount
Jan. 5, 1915-Feb. 27, 2014
Lillian was born Jan. 5, 1915, in Eyota, Minn. Her brother Lloyd was born in 1907. The family moved from Rochester, Minn., to Oregon in 1918, settling in St. Johns.
She married Max Yount in 1934 and daughter Dolores (Dee) Yount Ebel was born the following year. In 1943 her family bought and tended a 20-acre farm in Beaverton. In 1946 they built and moved into a new house in Multnomah. Yet another move in the 1950s was to a houseboat on the Willamette River.
Her husband died in 1983 and in her 70s she began a career cashiering in the cafeteria in Portland’s main post office.
When Dee and her husband Sterling moved to Brookings in 1992, Lillian moved there too. She lived in various facilities before moving to Sea View Senior Living Community almost four years ago.
On Valentine’s Day afternoon she suffered a massive stroke and never regained consciousness. She passed away in her own bed the evening of Feb. 27.
It was her desire to be cremated and that a small gathering of those who touched her life be assembled to remember her. After cake was served, the celebration of life was concluded by releasing balloons in her honor.
She was a sweet lady loved by many.
