Lee Marie Martin, 81, of Fontana, Calif., died June 21, 2002, at Sutter Coast Hospital of vascular disease. She was born Oct. 13, 2002, in Farrell, Pa. She grew up in Farrell and attended school there. She married Richard Martin in 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. Martin was a meat wrapper for Safeway for 20 years, retiring in 1960. She was homebound for many years because of a hip dysfunction. She loved car rides and senior center lunches. Mrs. Martin enjoyed reading and often read four or five books a week. A favorite activity was feeding the birds. She and her husband enjoyed playing cards together. She loved Poker with the guys, her daughter said. Mrs. Martin lived in Brookings with her daughter, son and sister. Survivors are son, Richard Martin; daughter, Penny Wallace; and sister, Margaret Gaich, all of Brookings; sister, Nellie Zdilor of Fontana, Calif.; son-in-law, Don Roy of Brookings. Also surviving are five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many friends from California and Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Martin; sisters, Kay Roush and Mary Petras; and brothers, Andrew, Mark and Ante Markich. Services are planned for today (June 26) at 10 a.m. at Ingold Chapel in Fontana. Arrangements are under the direction of Ingold Chapel of Fontana. |
