Laura Lucille Hill

Laura Lucille Hill, 88, Prairie City died Nov. 20, 2001, at Blue Mountain Nursing Home in Prairie City.

She was born April 2, 1913, in Higgens, Texas to John Franklin and Effa Hayes Haueisen. She attended school in Higgens.

She moved to California in 1930. In 1942, she married Virgil Clare Hill in San Diego, and they bought a ranch in Ramona.

Mrs. Hill worked at Consolidated Voltee Aircraft in San Diego until 1948, when they moved to Cottage Grove.

She worked in real estate and managed the Greyhound Bus Depot in Cottage Grove, retiring around 1970.

She moved to Grant County in 1999 and lived at Valley View Assisted Living, then moved to Blue Mountain Nursing Home.

She enjoyed writing letters and keeping a journal. She and her husband enjoyed riding horses, rodeos and travel.

Mrs. Hill is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Weldon Smith of John Day; Shirley Dachenhausen of Susanville, Calif.; stepdaughter, Donna Erickson of Tacoma, Wash.

Also surviving are numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996; and sons, Larry Boon and Ronald Boone.
