Kevin L. Roth
Jan. 24, 1956-July 13, 2014
Kevin L. Roth passed away July 13, 2014, at the age of 58 at his home in Brookings, after a long struggle with cancer.
Kevin was born on Jan. 24, 1956, in Elkhart, Indiana, and lived in Oregon, California, Iowa, and Kansas prior to moving to Brookings in 2006.
He attended Hesston College in Kansas for one year and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Architecture. He worked in construction, truss plant management, and finally in a chemical plant research department before retiring.
Kevin rarely missed an opportunity to enjoy life, with a special love of the outdoors and fishing. He was also an avid reader. He leaves many friends who will remember his humor, smile, quick wit, and joy of life.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Orie and Ina Roth; his son, Cameron Roth; siblings Dawn Wileman and Karl Roth; and sisters-in-law Myra Roth and Virginia Roth.
He was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Roth; ex-wife Marisa Roth; and brother-in-law George Wileman.
Kevin’s body has been donated for medical research per his request, so that future generations may benefit from the numerous medical problems he endured during his life. At a future date Kevin’s remains will be scattered at sea off the Brookings shore where he enjoyed salmon fishing.
While his passing leaves an empty gap in loved ones’ lives, there is comfort in knowing that his years of pain are over.
