Kaywood H. “Woody” Rodgers passed away March 14, 2013, at his home in Brookings. He was 71.
Woody was born July 3, 1941, in Alameda, Calif., to Kaywood R. and Myrtle Stratton Rodgers.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1960, and served 20 years, retiring as a tech. sgt. in 1980.
Woody married Jane Enriquez Jan. 26, 1965, in San Angelo, Texas. They lived in Texas until moving to Brookings in 1993, where Woody began a second career, in 1996, as a 911 dispatcher with the city of Brookings. He retired from there in 2010.
Woody enjoyed amateur radio, fishing, yard work and sports. He was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife Jane of Brookings; daughter Pamela Ryan of Beverly, Mass.; son Steve Rodgers and his wife Mary Ann of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and his beloved dog Hope.
A memorial mass will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16, at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 820 Old County Road. A luncheon will follow at the parish hall.
Interment was held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
