Kathryn E. Smith, 82, Brookings, died May 20, 2001, in Brookings.
She was born in Dietz, Wyo., Jan. 24, 1919, to Alexander (Alex) K. and Mary (Mayme) E. Cammock.
Her family moved to Billings, Mont., where she attended Fratt Memorial School and graduated from Billings High School in 1938.
She married Stanley Mike J. Smith on July 2, 1938, in Billings.
The couple moved to Klamath Falls in 1946 and then to Midland in 1954.
Mrs. Smith was appointed as the Postmaster of the Midland Post Office, a position that she held for 10 years before retiring.
She moved to Redding, Calif., in March 1994 and then to Brookings Nov. 3, 1999.
She was active in Catholic Daughters and Royal Neighbors, and was a member of the Midland Grange for 41 years.
Mrs. Smith was a well known pianist, holding the position of musician for the Grange and Royal Neighbors for many years.
Survivors are her sister, Violet Kinsfather of Casper, Wyo.; daughter, Jerrine (Ducat) Smith of Redding; son, Mike Smith of Brookings; grandchildren Dana Elzner, Shawn and Jerrod Ducat, Shelly (Mareovich) Smith, Angela (Samudio) Smith, and Jennifer McDonald; great-grandchildren, Keith and Riana Elzner, Wesley Mareovich, Jennifer and Joseph Samudio, and Crystal and Cory McDonald.
Also surviving are her extended family at the Curry Good Samaritan Center.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Mike Smith.
Memorial services are planned for Thursday, May 24 at 1 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens in Klamath Falls.
