Julie Lind

Julia Anna (Maciag) Lind was born April 27, 1920, in Bellows Falls, Vt., the ninth of 12 children. Her youth was spent in Holyoke, Mass., where she attended the local schools and high school. Following high school graduation, Julie enrolled in nursing school where she earned her RN degree. In 1943 she enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, serving stateside during World War II. Julie completed her tour of active duty in 1946 and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant, from Fort Dix, N.J.

On April 21, 1946, Julie became the bride of Theodore “Ted” Lind in Walla Walla, Wash., before the couple moved to Klamath Falls. Julie continued her career in nursing before starting her family of three children in 1948. She was active in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church until 2001 when Julie and Ted moved to the brand new Shore Pines Assisted Living facility in Gold Beach.

Julie went Home to her Lord on Dec. 17, 2012, surrounded by loving caregivers of Sea View Memory Care and her daughter. Julie was pre-deceased by her husband Ted in 2003 after 60 years of marriage. She is survived by one sister, Genevieve Alexander of Indian Orchard, Mass.; son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Debbie Lind of Wallowa, Ore.; daughter, Sandie Abts of Charlevoix, Mich.; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Ed Kammer of Gold Beach; grandchildren, Lacey Lind Doede, Jeffrey Lind, Stephanie Abts, Chris Abts, Michelle Kammer Majchrzak and Jennifer Kammer; and six great-grandchildren.

At her request a Memorial Mass will be held at 12:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Gold Beach. Graveside services will be held in Klamath Falls at a later date.

Submitted by the family.
