Judy Baker Balogh, 72, of Brookings, passed away Jan. 12, 2013, in Redding, Calif., following a short illness.
She was born Sept. 7, 1940, in Oklahoma to Jack and Jo Nation.
Judy graduated from Garden Grove High School in California.
She married David Baker. The couple founded a construction company in Southern California. They later relocated to Redding where they continued the business.
After David’s death, Judy moved to Brookings in 1996, where she owned and operated The Fashion Wave. She later managed the salon at Sea View Senior Living Community. She loved working with the elderly and was very kind and special to all of them.
In 2006, Judy married Ernie Balogh. The two loved to travel. Their trip to China was a very moving and special adventure for Judy.
Judy was a member of the Brookings-Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and Elks Lodge 1934. She volunteered each year to work on the Elks Christmas Baskets. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Brookings, which she served with love and pride. Her favorite pastime was walking on the beach with her dog “Missy.”
Judy is survived by her husband Ernie; two daughters; son Guy Baker; sister Vicky Reagan of Redding; grandchildren Lacey Gorman, Tanner Gorman, Austin Love, Pearl Baker and Willa Baker.
Judy’s life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Church of the Nazarene, 1600 Chetco Avenue. A reception will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances be made in her name to South Coast Humane Society, P.O. Box 7833, Brookings, OR 97415.
