John Henry Dart
Dec., 19, 1952-May 18, 2014
On May 18, 2014, John Henry Dart unexpectedly fell asleep in death with his wife by his side.
John was born on Dec. 19, 1952, in Houston, Texas, to Janice and Roger Dart.
In 1975, John married his first wife, Linda. Shortly after, they moved to Washington where their two sons, Karl Dart and Michael Dart, were born. The marriage ended in divorce.
After later settling in Oregon, John quickly fell in love with the beauty of the Oregon Coast. He and his sons became avid surfers and outdoorsmen. Later in life, John took a new career path after developing a passion for computers and graphic design. He worked for many years at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg and made many friends in the area.
John later met the love of his life, Victoria, and they were married on May 18, 2002. He also inherited four children he viewed as his own: Jessica Marrufo, Amy (T.J.) Cornia, Dustin Leslie, and Brooke (Loren) Cox. John recently became a loving grandpa to Timmy, age 1, and was looking forward to meeting another grandchild in November.
John is also survived by his brother William Dart, and sister Arielle (Thomas) Moore, of Texas.
John was well-known for his unwavering devotion to his God, Jehovah, his family, and his friends. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and avid bicyclist. He genuinely cared about others and was always eager to help anyone in need.
John was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Jan. 26, 1968, and he served his God faithfully right until the end.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1208 Ransom Avenue, Brookings.
“Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life. …” — John 5:28,29.
