Jean McCorriston Cunningham, 83, Brookings, died Dec. 27, 2000, in her sleep of natural causes.
She was born in 1917 to Daniel Fredrick McCorriston and Nina Craig.
Mrs. Cunningham graduated from the Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and University of California at Berkeley.
She married William I. Cunningham in 1936. They lived in Brookings for the last 37 years.
She was known by her many friends for her hospitality, artfulness, compassion and grace, family members said.
Survivors are her husband, Brookings; brother Colin McCorriston, M.D., Honolulu, Hawaii; sister Patricia Porter, Salem; son Patrick D. Cunningham, Brookings; Joseph W., Cotati, Calif.; grandchildren Joseph D. Cunningham and George B. Cunningham, both of Portland; Kristen Neff, Sacramento, Calif.; daughter-in-law Susan Neff, Sacramento.
Preceding her in death was her son Michael Cunningham.
At her request, no services will be held. The family will privately spread her ashes on the waves of the Pacific Ocean in companionship with her son.
