Jane Louise (Blunt) Griffith, 64, of Brookings, died June 27, 2011 at her home, surrounded by those who love her. She was born April 5, 1947, in Oberlin, Ohio, to Gordon and Ruth (Barrow) Blunt. The family moved to Littleton, Colo., where Jane grew up and graduated from high school. Jane met her husband, Michael Griffith Sr., in Upland, Calif. They married there in 1969, and moved to Red Oak, Okla., shortly thereafter. In 1980 Mike and Jane settled in Brookings. In 1982 Jane began working for Azalea Middle School as a playground aide. She was devoted to the students, and was an integral part of the computer labs, which she supervised until retiring in 2010. Jane’s smile was warm and bright, her laughter heartfelt and contagious. Jane never met a stranger; her generosity and kindness made everyone feel right at home. Survivors include her mother Ruth Blunt; brother Chris and wife Judith Blunt; sister Mary and husband Rob Strandlund; husband Mike Griffith Sr.; son John Griffith; daughter Michelle and husband Shad Perlich; son Michael Jr. and wife Cheri Griffith; daughter Cindi and husband Donnie Haskins; brother-in-law James and wife Cindy Griffith; and her grandchildren: Wesley Griffith, Macsen and Sean Griffith, and Lucian Perlich. She was preceded in death by her father Gordon Keith Blunt; brother Brad Blunt; and infant daughter Mary Jane Griffith. A service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1200 Easy St., Brookings. Friends and family are invited for light refreshments immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Azalea Middle School through the district office, Attention: Jane Griffith Memorial Fund, 629 Easy St., Brookings, OR 97415. The family would like to thank nurse Sally Klein of Curry County Hospice for her compassionate care. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel. Submitted by the family. |
