James Douglas Noll, 66, died Sept. 18, 2002, in Crescent City.

He was born Oct. 11, 1935, in Clay, Penn.

He was a Del Norte County resident for the past 13 years.

Before moving to the local area, he flew airplanes in Alaska for Hughes Construction during the building of the Alaskan Pipe Line. He was also a bush pilot. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Prior to his retirement he had worked for Coast Auto and Bernie Bishop Auto in Brookings as a parts manager.

He enjoyed automobiles and racing. He was a member of the Crescent City Redwood Cruisers and the Curry County Cruisers.

Survivors include wife Sally L. Clark, of Crescent City; daughter Janel Clark, of Crescent City; father-in-law William Jameson of Crescent City; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Billie and John Wier of Crescent City; sister-in-law Patty Jones of Rocklin, Calif.

In honor of his wishes, no services will be held.

The family requests remembrances be made to the Del Norte High School Automotive Dept. C/O Del Norte High School, 1301 El Dorado St., Crescent City, Calif.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier's Mortuary Chapel in Crescent City.
