James A. Sullivan, 92, Brookings, died July 3, 2001, at Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City.
He was born May 24, 1909, in East St. Louis, Ill., to Henry and Kathryn Sullivan.
He was raised in Ohio, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana.
Mr. Sullivan was an Army captain serving in World War II.
He married Celeste June 10, 1943, in La Jolla, Calif.
He owned El Centro Drug Store in El Centro, Calif., retiring in 1980 and moving to Brookings that same year.
Mr. Sullivan was a member of Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Survivors are daughters, Sharon Stevens, El Cajon, Calif.; Mary Najarian of Fresno, Calif; sons, Michael and John Sullivan, both of El Cajon, Calif.; and Ed Sullivan of Escondido, Calif.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death was his wife, Celeste Sullivan.
Services will be held July 5 at Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 820 Old County Road. A rosary will be said at 10 a.m. with funeral services following at 10:30.
Father Edmund Ryan will officiate.
