Jack Victor Magnuson, 72, Gold Beach, died April 30, 2000, at Curry General Hospital.

He was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Burlington, Iowa to Fred and Katherine (Osbournn) Magnuson.

He was raised and educated in Iowa. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II.

After his discharge, he moved to Gold Beach where he met and married Ethel Ackerman on Oct. 15, 1952. In 1977, he retired from guiding.

He was a member of the VFW and loved fishing.

Survivors are wife Ethel Magnuson, Gold Beach; daughter Vickie Carpenter, Gold Beach; half-sister Katherine Taylor, Virginia.

Also surviving are two granddaughters and four great-grandsons.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlins Gold Beach Mortuary Chapel.
