Jack A. Berry

Jack A. Berry, 64, Gold Beach, died Jan. 16, 2001, at home.

He was born Sept. 4, 1936, in Wichita, Kan., to Ralph Lyle Berry and Patricia Mary Dougherty.

He grew up in Laguna Beach, Calif.

He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. Later, he worked for Long Beach Oil Development before retiring in 1994.

He was a union representative for the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union.

Mr. Berry moved to Gold Beach from Signal Hill, Calif., in 1994.

In the 2000 World Championship Jet Boat Races, Hugh and Ryan McGinnis raced a boat owned by Mr. Berry.

He was active in local politics.

Survivors are his wife Marianne Berry, Gold Beach; brother and sister-in-law Bill and Jean Berry, Long Beach, Calif.; niece Robin Berry, Long Beach.

Services were held Friday at Littys Gold Beach Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Littys Funeral Directors, Gold Beach Chapel.
