Harvey R. Hurst 

Sept. 10, 1940-Feb. 1, 2014

Harvey R. Hurst of Brookings, died Feb. 1, 2014, peacefully in his sleep, after a 39-year, on-and-off battle with cancer.

Harvey was the loving father of Harvey R. Hurst Jr., Laura M. Hurst, and Patricia A. Hurst; grandfather of Michael Hurst, U.S. Navy, Breanna Myers, Michelle Hurst and Ryan Myers all of  Stockton, Calif.; great-grandfather of Drake Hurst of Lodi, Calif.; loving brother of Jeanette Bordelon of Melissa, Texas, Jacilyn Wells of Wilseyville, Calif., Chester Hurst of Stockton, and Richard Schaad of Jackson, Calif. 

Harvey was a former member of the Masonic Lodge 680 in Carmel, Calif., and Elks Lodge BPOE 1934 in Brookings. He was a true gentleman and served honorably in the U.S. Navy. Harvey attended AA Stagg and Edison High Schools in Stockton. Harvey was legend for his regard for others, his caring and generosity, his quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed dearly. 

A memorial service will be  at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive in Stockton. Private committal.
