Gerda M. Hansen, 88, Brookings, died May 13, 2001.
She was born July 25, 1912, in Ludington, Mich., to Henrietta and Andrew Mortensen.
After growing up in Michigan and Iowa, she went to work for a prominent family in Omaha, Neb., where she met and married Carl A. Larsen on Sept. 19, 1938.
The couple raised three children before they moved to Brookings in 1967, where Mr. Larsen preceded her in death on Nov. 13, 1984.
In 1986, she married an old family friend, Earl Hansen, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Mrs. Hansen enjoyed her church fellowship at Trinity Lutheran, the Chetco Grange, Good Sam R.V. club, working in the flowers beds of her yard, serving guests at her home and various community activities.
Survivors are her sister, Doris Nelsen; children, Carol, Larry and David; a son-in-law, Stanley Cupp.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her sister and brother-in-law Vera and Harold Nance; brother and sister-in-law Mort and his Arlene Mortensen; a sister-in-law, Hazel Larsen; brothers-in-law, Roy Larsen and Verner Nelsen.
The family suggests donations to the Memorial Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church.
A graveside service will be conducted at noon today (May 19) at Ward Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookings.
