Gene Hefner, 73, of Brookings, died Saturday, March 2, 2002. He was born Aug. 13, 1928, in Lima, Ohio. He served in the U.S. Navy for nine years. He married Billie M. Moore on June 28, 1952. In 1983, Gene retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He is survived by his wife, Billie M. Hefner; sons, Kevin Hefner of Brookings and Steve Denton Hefner of Herriman, Utah; daughters, Lynda Burton of Malibar, Fla.; and Christy Hodge of Satellite, Fla. His family also includes his twin brothers, Jack Hefner of Peoria, Ariz.; and Tom Hefner of Elida, Ohio; sisters, Shirley Wills and Betty Walls both of Lima. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A private interment is being planned at Arlington National Cemetery at a later time. Arrangements under the direction of Redwood Memorial Chapel. |
