Gayle C. Miller, 82, Brookings, died of cancer on Aug. 29, 2001, in Brookings.
He was born April 14, 1919, in Channing, Texas, to Frank and Louise Miller.
He grew up in Santa Ana, Calif., and attended Santa Ana High School.
He married Jeanne Miller on June 8, 1941, in Las Vegas. They moved to Brookings in August, 1985.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1966. During his military career he served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Strategic Air Command.
Mr. Miller received numerous military awards, including: APTO Cam M, Am Cam M, AFR 900//AM (100LC) GO-148, Hq 14th AF, 1945//DFC, GO-131, Hq 14th AF, 1945//Pres Unit Cit, GO-393-Hq 14th, AFB, 1945. (Air Medal w/clusters & Distinguished flying cross w/clusters).
He was a member of the Elks Retired Officers Organization.
He is survived by wife, Jeanne Miller, Brookings; daughter, Leslie Delp, Virginia; brother, Frank Miller, Phoenix, Ariz.; and sister, Carroll Covin, Victoria, B.C.
