Former Brookings theater owner Frederick Karl Hallman, 60, of Indonesia, died Oct. 28, 2000, of heart failure there.
He was born July 9, 1940, in Willamina to Fred and Lena Hallman.
He graduated from Brookings-Harbor High School in 1958 and worked for Brookings Plywood. Later, he worked for Georgia Pacific and various other timber companies throughout the U.S., Argentina and Indonesia.
In the early 1960s, he owned the Pine Cone Theater. He was active as a Boy Scout leader, a member of Brookings Elks and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors are wife Susan Hallman, Portland; daughters Ingrid and Brigid Hallman, Portland; Courtney Clifton, Monroe, La.; son Robert Hallman, Roseburg; brothers Ralph Haussmann, Bremerton, Wash.; Gary Hallman, Fort Dick, Calif.; sister Jeannette Ennett, Whitmore Lake, Mich.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, son Erik Andrew Hallman and his sister Loretta Parker.
A graveside service was conducted Tuesday at the Crescent City Cemetery. Father Edmund K. Ryan, O.P., Star of the Sea Catholic Church, officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Littys Funeral Directors, Brookings Chapel.
