Francis Frank M. Reller

Francis Frank M. Reller, 83, Brookings, died Oct. 4, 2000.

He was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Cheney, Wash., to Ferdinand and Susanna (Schmitt) Reller.

He spent his youth in Oregon areas from Portland to Pistol River working in sawmills and as a carpenter.

Mr. Reller moved to Belgrade, Mont., in 1953 with his wife Francis and their three daughters.

He was employed at Yellowstone National Park as foreman for 25 years. He built the Friendly Tavern in 1967 and bought the Bunkhouse Bar in Toston, Mont., in 1976.

He retired in 1979 and he and his wife sold the tavern and bar and returned to Pistol River.

Mr. Reller spent his retirement mowing two acres of yard and cutting trees and sitting on the bluff watching the ocean with his family and friends.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years Francis Reller, Brookings; daughters Susie Fonk, Brookings; Judy Carlyle, West Yellowstone, Mont.; Janie Carlyle, Belgrade, Mont.; grandchildren Mike Topp, Butte, Mont.; Shirley Welch, Redmond, Calif.; Debbie Keith, West Yellowstone, Mont.; Carman Carlyle, Baltimore, Md.; sisters Rose Cobat, Ashland; Marian Carter, Sweet Home; brothers Larry Reller, Myrtle Point; Bill Reller, Pistol River; sisters-in-law Hazel, Thompson Falls, Mont.; Lydia, Townsend, Mont.; Francis, Four Corners, Mont.

Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was helped through the final stages of cancer by his wife Francis Reller, his daughter Susie Fonk and Curry County Home Health and Hospice.

Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers George, Walt, Ferdie and Joe, grandchildren Donna Carlyle and Darrell Carlyle Jr.

He was cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Littys Funeral Directors, Brookings Chapel.
