Eva Mae Freeland

Eva Mae Freeland, 72, Brookings, died May 13, 2000, at Curry Good Samaritan Center.

She was born Jan. 12, 1928, in Spiro, Okla., to Ernest and Freddie Jessie Mandy (Ross) Ward.

Mrs. Freeland moved to Brookings in 1969 from Red Bluff, Calif. She was past president of the Welcoming Committee in Brookings for 30 years.

Survivors are sons James Woods, Thurston, Calif.; J.R. Woods, Sacramento, Calif.; daughters Dianne Wade, Brookings; Nina Wade, Saginaw, Mich.; Alexis Shook, Boerne, Texas; brother Billy Joe Ward, Austin, Texas; sisters Maxine Pate, Pioneer, Calif.; Tina Ward, Redding, Calif.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was husband John Freeland and parents Ernest and Freddie Ward.

Services are scheduled for May 18 at 10 a.m. at Scantlins Brookings Chapel, No. 2 Ross Road.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlins Brookings Mortuary Chapel.
