Esther Simons Foley, 87, Brookings, died Feb. 18, 2001, in Crescent City, from Alzheimers disease complications.
She was born Oct. 28, 1913, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Nathan and Rae Simons.
She married Anthony Edward Foley in 1933 in Chicago, Ill. They moved to Monrovia, Calif., in 1944.
Mrs. Foley was employed at Hagen Rennaker Ceramics and Anja Engineering.
She enjoyed working on crafts and talking with friends.
She was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease in 1988 and lived with her daughters until moving to the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Center in Brookings in 1993.
Survivors are her daughter Norine Foley Wallace, Santa Barbara, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Laura and Ralph of Ukiah; niece Edythe Foley Anderson and her daughters Debra and Kathleen, all of Arcadia, Calif.; nieces Ruthe Weis of Chicago; Marcia Savitt of Woodland Hills, Calif.; great-niece Patricia Morton of Illinois.
She is also survived by nephews Marshall and Jay Sher, and Richard Simons, all of Chicago, Ill.; Gerald Simons, Florida; sister Sandy Simons; grandchildren Matthew and Nora Wallace of Santa Barbara, Calif.
Preceding her in death were her brothers Sam Simons, Saul Simons and Milton Simons; sisters Sadelle and Betty.
Private services were held.
