Edna Fredericka Wismer Owens was born Dec. 15, 1917, in Portland, to Carl Enoch Wismer and Matilda Lydia Zurcher Wismer.
She passed away in Crescent City on June 29, 2014.
Edna grew up on a dairy farm, graduated Beaverton High School, worked at J.C. Penney in Portland, and for Motorola in Phoenix, Arizona.
She married Kenneth Owens in 1940. They lived in Elgin from 1956 to 1958, and then in Phoenix from 1958 to 1974. When Ken retired, they moved to Brookings.
Edna was very active in the Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon, worked on the rummage sales and bazaars, and served as a church greeter. She enjoyed playing pinochle, liked to crochet and enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star where she held several offices.
Survivors include her daughter Carol of Brookings; granddaughter Kim Prokosch; sister Ruth of Portland. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews in Oregon, Washington and Colorado.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; daughter Barbara; brothers Al, Ray and Richard; and granddaughter Hallie Arnold.
