Edmond S. Winslow, 80, of Brookings, passed away Saturday Dec. 10, 2011, at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland of acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML).
He was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Los Angeles and grew up in Culver City, Calif.
A sergeant in the U.S. Army, Ed proudly served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He was honorably discharged in 1956.
Ed was known to friends by two nicknames: “Bud” and “Rocky.”
Ed and his treasured wife, Marjorie, moved to Brookings from Chico, Calif. in 1999.
He is survived and missed by Marjorie, his wife of 21 years; daughters Tina, Tracy and Debra; sons Rick and Kenneth; nephew Tim Hohle. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Stephen.
In the spring, his ashes will be scattered at sea beyond Bird Island. A memorial service will follow.
