Edith M. Rooney

Edith M. Rooney, 85, Brookings, died Sept. 17, 2000.

She was born March 15, 1915, in Paterson, N.J., to Arthur J. Fisher and Mabel (Rogers) Fisher.

She was raised and educated in Paterson and married Charles B. Rooney there in 1940.

Ms. Rooney was employed as a saleswoman in department stores throughout her life. She also worked with Dean Witter as a telephone operator and receptionist.

In 1959 her husband died. She relocated to Brookings in 1961 and retired in 1985.

She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge and shopping with friends.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law Charles and Gloria Rooney, Walnut, Calif.; brother Art Fisher, Brookings.

Also surviving are five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband Charles Rooney, parents Arthur and Mabel Fisher, and two sisters Mable and Ruth.

Memorial services were held Tuesday at Macklyn House.

Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Rowland Heights, Calif.

Interment services are scheduled for Sept. 23 in Rowland Heights.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scantlins Brookings Mortuary Chapel.
