Edith E. Gerlach, 79, Brookings, died June 1, 2000.
She was born July 1, 1920, in International Falls, Minn., to Henry and Cecilia Nelson.
She married Demain C. Bud Gerlach Sept. 9, 1939. She and her husband celebrated their 60th anniversary last fall.
They moved to the Brookings area in 1955 from Long Prairie, Minn.
Mrs. Gerlach worked at C&K Market and the U.S Post Office in Brookings.
She enjoyed knitting, reading, gardening and playing cards.
She was a member of the Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
Survivors are husband Demain C. Bud Gerlach, Brookings; sons and their wives Terry and Florence Gerlach, Portland; Randy and Janet Gerlach, Brookings; Byron and Sharon Gerlach, Brookings; granddaughters Cynthia Gerlach, Oxford, Miss.; Amy Gerlach, Portland; Molly and husband Chris Wallace, Brookings; grandsons Joshua Gerlach, Eugene; Jeremy Gerlach, Brookings; Jeffrey Gerlach, Brookings; James Gerlach, Brookings; Matt Gerlach, Brookings; great-granddaughters Katelyn Wallace, Brookings; Alyssa Wallace, Brookings; brother and sister-in-law Ray and Ann Nelson, Gardnerville, Nev.
Preceding her in death were her parents, daughter Linda and sister Amy Steele.
A memorial mass is scheduled at Star of the Sea Catholic Church June 10 at 10 a.m. The rosary will be said at 9:50 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a favorite charity.
