Douglas L. Beeson, 75, Brookings, died Oct. 6, 2000.
He was born Dec. 15, 1924, in Mill City to Robert and Jane (Doan) Beeson.
He served as a corporal in the U.S. Armys 127th Airborne Engineering Battalion from 1943 to 1945.
Mr. Beeson was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Service Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal with one bronze service star, the American Theater Service Medal and Victory Medal.
He married Dorathy Beeson on Dec. 15, 1946, in Kelso, Wash.
He and his wife moved to Longview, Wash., in 1952 and then to Langlois. They moved to Brookings in 1959.
Mr. Beeson worked for BZH Logging in Brookings for 37 years before retiring.
He was an assistant chief for Harbor Fire Department from 1961 until his death. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for 24 years, Veterans of Foreign Wars for four years and he served as the president of South Coast Seagulls RV Club.
Survivors are daughters Marcia Gose, New Jersey; Donna Land, Brookings; sons-in-law Ben Gose and Kenny Lang; grandchildren Kelly Gose, New Jersey; Allen Gose, North Carolina; Ken Stebbins, Brookings; Lisa Martin, Texas; great-grandchildren Kalya Martin, Texas; Kaylynn Gose, New Jersey; Breanna Moen, Brookings.
Preceding him in death was his wife Dorathy Beeson; brothers Charlie, Melvin and Robert; sisters Clarice and Lorretta; stepgrandson Justin Lang.
Services are scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 14, at 2 p.m. at the Harbor Fire Department. John Golden will officiate.
