Donald Wayne Lamb, 70, Brookings, died May 22, 2000.

He was born Aug. 7, 1929, on a farm in Bentonville, Ark.

He spent his youth in Rocky Ford, Colo., and Clayton, N.M. In 1948, he went to California and joined the U.S. Navy, serving in the Korean War.

In 1954, he married and had two children. In 1965, he received his bachelors degree in education from San Diego State University. He taught elementary school for 19 years in the San Diego area.

He married his wife Linda C. Lillman in 1977 and gained two stepdaughters. The family moved to Oregon in 1984 and to the Brookings area in 1990.

Mr. Lamb taught school in Oregon for six and a half years before retiring in 1994. He continued to work as a substitute teacher after his retirement.

He appeared in several plays and musicals with the Chetco Pelican Players in Brookings and received a Packy Award for Best Actor in a Bit Role as Happy Bender in Last Chance Inn, Calamity Gulch.

He was a member of the Church of Christ for 45 years serving as song leader, deacon and Bible class teacher.

Survivors are wife Linda C. Lamb, Brookings; son Lowell D. Lamb, San Ramon, Calif.; daughter Lori Rees, Camarillos, Calif.; stepdaughters Stacia Loe, Albany; Stephanie Ebel, Edmond, Okla.; grandchildren Helen Lamb, John Lamb, April Loe and Colton Ebel; brother Bill Lamb, Dalhart, Texas; sisters Charlotte Fulton, Clovis, N.M.; Carol Stewart, Dumas, Texas.

Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, friends and in-laws.

Arrangements are under the direction of Litty Funeral Directors, Brookings Chapel.
