Donald Vernon Wells, 74, Rogue River, died May 5, 2002, at home in Rogue River.
He was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Steubenville, Ohio, to Jefferson and Edna Wells.
He married Nelva Dean Shirley, July 6, 1950, in Dallas.
He was employed by Boise Cascade for 13 years, and was a production manager for South Coast Lumber Co. plywood mill in Brookings until his retirement in 1990.
Mr. Wells lived in Rogue River since 2000 moving from Brookings.
He was in the U.S. Merchant Marines, and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He attended Assembly of God church.
Survivors include wife of Rogue River; sons, Jeffrey Wells of Ben Lomand, Calif.; daughters, Donna Mapel and Terria Flick of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; sisters, Bessie Danley of Steubenville, Ohio; Lillian Humes of Mingo Junction, Ohio. Also surviving are three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation is today (May 8) at Central Valley Chapel, Central Point, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Graveside service will be Thursday, May 9, at Eagle Point National Cemetery, Eagle Point, at 1 p.m.
