Donald Delaine “Don” Marrington, 78 of Brookings, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at home surrounded by his family.
Don was born June 18, 1935, in Pierre, S.D., to John King Marrington and Edith Thelma Stinson.
Don served in the United States Navy for four years.
He married Ora Jean Henry April 23, 1955, in Portland.
In 1964, the couple moved from the Medford area to Brookings, where they raised their three children.
Don enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, hearing about their endeavors in school sports and careers, as well as hunting, fishing and visiting with longtime friend Leonard at his auto shop.
Don will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his sister Donna Bergman and husband Don; brother Bill Marrington; son Lyle Marrington and daughter-in-law Deborah; daughter LouAnne Martin and son-in-law Carl; son Lonnie Marrington and daughter-in-law Deanna; grandchildren April and Carl Robert Martin; Alaura and Tyler Marrington. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Don was preceded in death by his parents John and Edith; wife Jean; brother Jimmy; and grandson Matthew King Marrington.
At the request of the family no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s name to the American Cancer Society, c/o Brookings Relay For Life, Attention Kristin, 650 Old County Road No. 8, Brookings, OR 97415.
