Debra Ardell Niemie

Debra Ardell Niemie, 49, Brookings, died July 5, 2001, in Brookings.

She was born May 17, 1952, in Crescent City. She was a lifelong resident of Brookings, having graduated from Brookings-Harbor High School in 1970.

She went on to Oregon State University, completing bachelors and masters degrees and graduating in 1977.

For years she had been employed in public service occupations, and at the time of her death was an Educational Service District aide at the Brookings-Harbor schools.

She enjoyed her family and was proud of their accomplishments.

Survivors are her mother, Connie, and stepfather, Dar Rasmussen; brother and sister-in-law Dayle and Glenna Niemie; nieces Heather Niemie and Amy and her husband Rob Valdez.

Also surviving are many aunts and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her father Frank Niemie; Uncle Jack Anderson; and grandparents Laura and Walter Anderson.

Visitation will be at Wiers Mortuary Chapel, 408 G St., Crescent City, on Wednesday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 12, at 1 p.m. at Wiers Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow services at IOOF Memorial Cemetery, Crescent City.

Contributions may be made in Miss Niemies memory to Brookings-Harbor High School Scholarship Fund or Muscular Dystrophy, 1670 Williamette St., Eugene, OR 97401.
