Llyn Ellen (Steinecke) Payne Llyn Ellen (Steinecke) Payne, 68, of Brookings, passed away Nov. 5, 2011, at her home. She was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Fond du Lac, Wis. A full obituary will appear in a later edition of the Pilot. Submitted by Redwood Memorial Chapel. Lester Wheeler Former Brookings resident Lester Wheeler, 95, of Cottage Grove, died Nov. 6, 2011, in Springfield. He was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Pleasant Hill. Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, at Smith-Lund-Mills Chapel, 123 S. Seventh St., in Cottage Grove. A service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, at the Church of Christ, Sixth and Gibbs streets in Cottage Grove. Burial will be in Fir Grove Cemetery, Cottage Grove.
